Position Summary
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Public Affairs intern to join our Government
Affairs team. Preferably for six months, but the duration is up for discussion. This internship offers a
unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of policy, industry, and
sustainability. As intern, you’ll support the team in monitoring political and societal developments,
conducting research, and assisting in the preparation of public affairs strategies for Europe and the
UK. You’ll get a desk and laptop to use in our headquarters in Utrecht.


Key Responsibilities

  • Track and report on relevant legislative, regulatory, and policy developments in Europe and
    the UK related to energy, climate, and sustainability.
  • Conduct background research on policy topics, stakeholders, and industry trends to develop
    advocacy strategies.
  • Assist in drafting briefing notes, stakeholder maps, and preparatory materials for meetings
    and events.
  • Contribute to the preparation of advocacy plans and communication strategies, including
    drafting summaries and supporting internal coordination.
  • Help organize and prepare for stakeholder meetings, webinars, and industry association
    activities.
    Learning Outcomes
    By the end of the internship, you will:
  • Understand how European and UK political processes impact business and industry.
  • Gain practical experience in public affairs, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Learn how to monitor and analyze policy developments and translate them into actionable
    insights.
  • Develop skills in research, strategic communication, and event preparation.
  • Build a network in the European policy and energy sector.
    Candidate Profile
  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or final-year Bachelor’s program in Government studies,
    Political Science, European Studies, International Relations, Communications, or a related
    field.
  • Strong interest in public affairs, energy transition, and sustainability.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken); other European languages are an asset.
  • Proactive, organized, and eager to learn in a fast-paced international environment.
