Student Assistant Position: Support the Launch of SpARC (Springboard for Artistic and Research Creativity)

SpARC, the Springboard for Artistic and Research Creativity, is an innovative initiative supported by the Utrecht Young Academy. Our mission is to break conventional boundaries, reignite research passions, and nurture creativity in academia. Through unique activities, we create opportunities for students and scholars to collaborate, innovate, and spark groundbreaking ideas.

We are seeking a Student Assistant to join our team and play a key role in launching and growing SpARC.

What you will do:

  • Set up and maintain our website (no technical expertise needed—an Utrecht University WordPress template will be used).
  • Assist in creating marketing materials and managing communications.
  • Help organize and promote events.
  • Coordinate meetings and handle day-to-day administrative tasks

What We’re Looking For:

Required:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • A creative mindset and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Interest in research, creativity, and innovation in academia

Desirable:

  • Graphic design experience, or visual arts experience
  • Experience with AI image generation or with branding (logo design etc.), or willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of Utrecht University
  • Dutch language skills (preferable although not essential)

Particulars:
The commitment is of a half day a week (4 hours/0.1 FTE) for 4 months initially, with the possibility of extension. If the fit is right, we would like for the candidate to continue in the position for at least one year. The job is compensated at the standard Utrecht University student assistant rate and can be undertaken in large part remotely.

Timeline:

  • Deadline for the receipt of applications is 13 December.
  • We hope to conduct interviews on 20 December (in person or online).
  • The start date is in early January 2025.
